We may collect and store the following information when running the Cloud LaTeX service:
Information that you provide: We collect your email address (as a user ID), password, and your respective institute, email address of Facebook, Twitter ID. Since the password is stored as an encrypted string, we will never be able to identify your actual password.
Files: We store the files you uploaded to the AWS S3 server.
Log data: When you access the service, the application servers record the log data, which contains information about web requests, data transactions, and server errors, for the sole purpose of improving the overall quality of the service.
User data collected by Google Analytics: We collect access data, such as the type of browser that you use or the time when you access the service using Google Analytics.
Contact and Feedback: We collect contents of feedback and contact using UserVoice.
To improve our website: We continually strive to improve our service on the basis of the collected information.
To process transactions: Your information will never be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to another company for any reason whatsoever without your consent.
To send emails: We only use your email address to deliver information about our service.
We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or the service is available. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide services, then you can delete your account by emailing us at: email@example.com
We keep our service secure through the following procedures:
Use of secure socket layer technology (SSL): Data transmission between the application servers and your browser is encrypted by SSL.
Data encryption: The data you uploaded is encrypted by AES256 and stored in the AWS S3 server. Your LaTeX document is encrypted by AES256 and stored in the AWS RDS database.
Periodic deletion of temporary files: The preview images of PDF files and temporary files related to LaTeX compilation are stored in the application server. These temporary files are periodically deleted.
